Depending on what machine you’ve got you’re likely to have different flight modes on your computer that your flight computer will offer you if it’s something like the nizer that you’ll find inside the dgi.
And many of the quads that are out there and it can have three different flight modes GP s mode attitude sometimes also called out chewed mode and manual mode gpe Mode is the most stable and it’s where the flight computer takes information from any satellite locked it’s got and also they come on board to keep the machine as stable as possible at all times.
This is both from a high point of view and laterally and forwards and backwards.
So for instance you could hover it in the air and gbw Mode take your hands off the controls walk up to it carefully push it out the way and then it should slide back into place thinking that the wind was trying to move it can be very useful.
The video of the in photography the attitude mode is where it has not stabilized machine forward and backward left or right.
It just keeps it at a certain height.
This also has some advantages for videoing them and photographing manual mode is where you’ve got the most options.
You have complete control and the computer is not trying to do anything to stabilize you but it also can be one of the trickiest to get flying with.
Let’s look at these a little bit more detail starting with GP s and how it can impact your videoing and photographing GP s mode is the mode that you’re likely to use the most for videoing photographing particularly towards the beginning of your flying.
It’s great for video videoing photographing as it really does help position your machine stay body in the sky.
It’s particularly useful for when you’re flying in slow proximity nexus something as it should help keep you away from that and stop you accidentally drifting into it.
It is about 30 percent less efficient on the battery so you can get through your battery much quicker by using it all the time.
It also can cause problems where the machine is fighting against the wind and it will cause twitches in your footage particularly uring where the back end of your machine will pan from left to right.
And these are often not removed by the gimbal So there are other modes that can be better.
When you’ve got crosswind situations it also takes over your machine when you’re trying to descend too fast and it will stop you tilting over too much and it will suddenly flick you back to a stable position and you will always see this on your footage as well as it being quite surprising little frightening when you’re not really sure what’s actually going on.
If you’re doing any long flying we are trying to get to a spot start filming.
It’s not the best mode to fly in again because of that efficiency issue.
You can easily fly in another mode then when you get there.
Switch over to gpe to do you’re more close call video and fetich offering.
The next mode to look at this is a little bit harder to fly in.
It’s called Attitude or sometimes outer Tudeh mode.
This is where it’s keeping you at a fixed height in the sky it’s excellent for smooth flybys as it will keep you at a nice height and it will stop some of that jerkiness coming in from where the machine is trying to fight say a crosswind is also more efficient uses less battery.
However you have to be aware that it’s a bit now like flying with momentum previously when you slow down or take your hands off the control.
The thing would grind to a halt in the middle of the air.
Now it just continues onwards with momentum as if it’s like something on a piece of ice.
So you need to become familiar with that.
She don’t end up flying into something accidentally is also more prone to wind so if there is some wind than it’s going to be blown off course there’s no longer trying to fight that kind of thing.
Final mode to look at is manual mode.
This is where you got the most control over your machine and it can lead to you getting the very best results a videographer in photography.
But it takes a lot of practice to get familiar with this latest and very smooth flying as a computer’s not trying to fight anything at all.
It’s also very good for rapid descents as it has no stop of you turning the motors off effectively up in the air.
See then you can start to plummet towards the ground.
Obviously you need to be extremely careful about doing this so you can get them back on in time so you don’t go crashing into things.
The most efficient way of flying to see you can get the most out of your batteries.
The problems are you can very very quickly get out of control with it as it hasn’t got any of those safety mechanisms in place.
It allows you to fly at very extreme angle so for instance you could flip your machine upside down and then power it straight down into the ground.

Send your machine up over a nice safe place where nothing else is around and put it up high and then practice in manual mode.
You typically have a big drop when you flip over into manual and you need to work out how to take control of that and try with very small movements to get used to this.
